CARPROOF research reveals more than one in ten vehicles on the road in Manitoba are unsafe due to open safety recalls; free car history reports now available

LONDON, ON, August 5, 2015 – Data collected by CARPROOF shows close to 100,000 vehicles on the road in Manitoba have open safety recalls. To help vehicle owners be confident their cars are safe, CARPROOF is offering Manitoban car owners a FREE vehicle history report.

Vehicle safety recalls are becoming a frequent topic in the media. Since early 2014, more than 10 million Canadian vehicles have been affected by manufacturer recalls. Out of approximately 800,000 vehicles registered in Manitoba, CARPROOF estimates that close to 100,000 of them have open safety recalls outstanding. This means that more than one in 10 cars on the road in Manitoba have been deemed unsafe to drive by the vehicle’s own manufacturer.

For vehicle owners, nothing can seem more important than ensuring the vehicle transporting them and their family is safe. While vehicle manufacturers and dealers have some processes in place to alert owners when a recall is issued on their car, owners can be difficult to locate and, often, the message isn’t received.

As provider of the most comprehensive car history report on the market, CARPROOF seeks to help consumers uncover the most up-to-date background information on their particular vehicle. “Our mission and brand promise is founded in providing critical information that creates trust, transparency and confidence in the end to end used car experience.” says Ed Woiteshek, President and CEO of CARPROOF. “The alarming number of vehicles on the road with open recalls is a public safety issue. It’s a problem, and at CARPROOF we’re doing everything possible to help solve it.”

To honour this commitment and increase consumer awareness of the role vehicle history reports play in building a transparent used car experience, CARPROOF is offering Manitoba consumers a FREE report so they can learn everything they need to know about the history of their own car. In addition to providing important information about previous accidents, CARPROOF alerts owners of any open safety recalls that have been issued on their vehicle.

“We are hoping that by offering these reports for free during the next few months,” says Woiteshek, “Manitoba drivers will feel confident they are driving a safe car. And as important, we want to alert those consumers that are driving unsafe cars so they can be properly fixed to make our roads safer for all.”
