Kaeden Brown Foundation fundraising efforts top $400,000
LONDON, ON, July 3, 2013 – The 4^th^ annual Kaeden Brown Foundation Golf Tournament was held on June 21, 2013 at the Widder Station Golf Club in Thedford, Ont. The foundation, which was set up in memory of Kaeden Brown, an inspiring little boy whose life was taken too soon, has raised a record-setting $400,000 thanks to its fundraising efforts over the last four years. This money will continue to go towards community improvements and a scholarship fund for local students in Kaeden’s hometown of Arkona, Ont. and the surrounding community.
This year’s golf tournament, which raised north of $50,000, also coincided with what would have been Kaeden’s 11^th^ birthday. To start the day and commemorate the special date, each of the 204 golfers released an orange birthday balloon into the air and fireworks were set off from all four corners of the course. Following the tournament, attendees enjoyed a dinner, silent auction and a live auction, with Darryl Maidment, General Manager at ADESA Toronto, acting as auctioneer.
The annual $5,000 scholarship was awarded to Allison Nickles, a deserving student who possesses the same characteristics and zest for life that Kaeden did.
Marty Meadows, Chairman and Founder of the Kaeden Brown Foundation and CARPROOF’s VP of Data Acquisition and Strategic Accounts said he was “honoured and humbled to see so many people come out and lend both their time and effort to the event. I am truly blessed to have so many close friends that not only generously contribute financially, but they also donate their most valuable resource, their time.”
Marty has been the driving force behind the annual event and the foundation, which aims to enrich the lives of secondary school students through post-secondary scholarship and support younger children in the community through sports programs and educational equipment. CARPROOF has been involved since the foundation’s inception and helped to seed the foundation with a $5,000 donation. The management team continues to participate in the event each year as a gold level sponsor.
This year’s event was a great success thanks to the generous support of automotive industry members such as Canadian Auto World, Canadian Black Book, North Toronto Auction, ADESA, Manheim, Roy Speed & Ross Ltd., Apex Inspection Solutions, Auto Capital, RVI and over 20 franchised car dealers. This event is also done in partnership with the number one fishing show in Canada, the Fish’n Canada show.
In the past four years, the Kaeden Brown Foundation has awarded five students with $5,000 scholarships and also raised funds for a state of the art playground at Bosanquet Central School in Thedford, a dressing room at the Legacy Recreation Centre in Thedford and a splash pad in Arkona.
