CARPROOF Launches Transparency and Safety Awareness Campaign for Albertans

LONDON, ON, September 9, 2015 – CARPROOF’s latest research in Alberta highlights alarming issues about how used cars are transacted and maintained in the province. Approximately one in seven vehicles on the road in Alberta have been deemed unsafe by the manufacturer to drive and close to half of all used cars purchased by Albertans are bought without industry standard disclosures to make an informed buying decision.

In an effort to create more awareness on this issue, CARPROOF is partnering with industry players to launch a consumer-focused transparency and safety awareness campaign in Alberta that will commence shortly. “The alarming number of vehicles on the road with open recalls is a public safety issue. It’s a problem, and at CARPROOF we’re doing everything possible to help solve it,” says Woiteshek. “We will be investing significant effort and money in supporting this cause through every channel possible. We’ve been testing ideas in Manitoba that are now ready to be launched in Alberta. Our innovative dealer partners have gone above and beyond to play a key role in the success of our ongoing campaign in Manitoba. We expect even more support in Alberta.”

In Manitoba, key influential dealer group partners have been Birchwood, Dilawri, Vickar and Gauthier, among others. In Alberta, we are proud to announce that automotive groups McManes, Wood, Kaizen, and Revolution have already committed their support of this initiative. Woiteshek hints, “We will announce more dealer and industry partners in the weeks to come. Our lofty objective is to get a CARPROOF report into the hands of every Albertan vehicle owner over the next 12 months. We believe this will drive a step-function change in consumer awareness, increasing road safety and ultimately creating more confidence in the used car experience.”
